School Lunch

There definitely seems to be a reoccurring theme of little space in my life lately.  Perhaps that is by design.  Am I reaching out to that part of myself to help me with life’s stressors or I’ve often thought that it is my little side reaching out to help me when I need it?  Either way, I’m finding little moments in my life that take me to a simpler time and space.  Some of these moments are not as long or alone as others, but each of them affords me a moment to feel the warmth of regression.

Another one of those moments came while I was helping my kid’s Elementary School run an event.  I was at the school all day, and when lunchtime rolled around I was able to go hang out with each kid and sit with them.  Normally we would sit in the cafeteria, but the weather was so nice that we went outside and sat under a tree with some of their friends.

Here entered another moment of simplicity and serenity.  Sitting in the grass under a tree with a school lunch of chicken nuggets and mashed potatoes with my children and their friends.  Obviously there was no time for “little space” but there was a moment that I relished for its complete duration where I embraced something simple.  I breathed in the cool air, and felt the stress and superfluous remove itself from my consciousness.

I hope that I am listening and taking full advantage of these moments no matter how short or long they may be.  I hope the same for you.  The moments of reprieve that diapers or little space brings you can help you recharge your batteries to take on the world of adulting that doesn’t let up.  Take advantage of them, and let diapers empower you to be your best self and life your best life.

Carpe Diem
